What is your official job title here at LP?

Junior Systems Administrator I

Fill us in on your day to day tasks?

I provide frontline phone and ticket desk support for Lunarpages' VPS and dedicated servers, including troubleshooting connectivity errors, malware scans and security audits, and backup and disaster recovery preparation planning.

What made you decide to join the Lunarpages’ family?

I saw an opening for a position in our brand-new data center facility in Irvine and jumped at the chance to work for a prestigious company offering top-of-the-line services.

How long have you worked at Lunarpages?

8 months

Where were you working at before Lunarpages?

I got my start at a small PC repair shop in Murrieta, doing tune-ups and studying for a career in network security; I also ran a part-time, self-hosted web development company maintaining WordPress sites for friends and customers in need of a website.

What is the most challenging aspect of your job?

Every day is a new challenge. We see similar issues with common causes sometimes, but often every issue we deal with is the result of a different problem or unrelated setting that needs to tweaked. It can be a challenge to find out exactly what's wrong with any given server.

What is your favorite thing about your job?

Being able to troubleshoot, research, and deliver a resolution to a customer anxious for a fix is incredibly satisfying- there's nothing like battling it out with a cranky server and coming out the victor.

What makes Lunarpages special?

Lunarpages' support is top-notch. I work with an incredibly talented group of people, who learn and share from each other every day. We work to better each other and ourselves, and every day we grow as a team. There's no other company that works like we do, and I'm proud to say I'm a part of that.

What do you enjoy to do during your spare time?

I'm currently going to school for my degree in network security and administration; that takes a lot of my time. I also spend a good deal of time researching new ways to solve problems and run my servers more efficiently.

How does it feel to be our September Lunar Jedi? Is there anything you want to say to your competition?

One of our last Lunar Jedi's, James, is a close personal friend of mine, and my roommate. We compete about everything (and I usually win)! If he thinks he's taking this back from me, he has another thing coming.

Besides working at LP, if you could do anything else, what would you choose as your career and why?

I would love to work in a small- to mid-size business as a security consultant or engineer. I love being able to work to find a customized solution that precisely fits the needs of what I'm working on.

If you were an animal, what kind of animal would you be and why?

Hmm... Something with opposable thumbs so I can still play my guitar... I mean, type on my keyboard.

What is your favorite color?

Blue... maybe? Or red? Yellow? Definitely yellow. No... Yeah, yellow. No, blue. Umm... can you come back to me on this one?

What is the last book you read?

House of the Scorpion. It's a great sci-fi coming-of-age tale that I read as a kid, and I keeping picking it up again and again.

If you could have a super power, what power would you choose?

I would love to be able to fly. It sure would help getting through Southern California traffic!

How many gas stations would you say there are in the United States?

Too many- and they're all too expensive! I used to be able to fill my tank for $20... Now it's over $60!

If Hollywood made a movie about your life, whom would you like to see play the lead role as you?

A hybrid clone of Will Smith, Clint Eastwood, Tommy Lee Jones, and the kid from Transformers.

If you had six months left to live, what would you do with the time?

Travel! My girlfriend is studying abroad in Italy next year, and I'm jealous I don't get to join her. I also want to see Paris, and go back to my hometown of Buffalo- best chicken wings, hands down!

If you won $20 million in the lottery, what would you do with the money?

Pay off my mom's house, my college debt, and divvy the rest up between my family members so we can all relax a little!

What are the first three things you do at work?

Log in and check the status of every customer I keep track of- which can be quite a few! I make it my priority not to let anyone slip through the cracks.

How would you describe yourself in three words?

Wacky. Spazzy. Paprocki.
